NAKHON RATCHASIMA: Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon visited a gathering of Palang Pracharat MPs in Wang Nam Khieo district on Monday, and said he supported the party and will decide later whether to join it.

Gen Prawit, who before the election repeatedly emphasised he was not a member of any party, addressed a meeting of PPRP MPs at the 88 Garmonte Resort in the morning, and then went on an inspection of drought conditions in the northeastern province.

He met key figures of the coalition-leading party.

"I appreciate the executive committee's recognition of the importance of fellow members of the Palang Pracharat Party, especially MPs... This seminar boosts love and unity among the members of our party and our family," Gen Prawit said.

PPRP MP for Nakhon Sawan Weerakorn Khamprakob told Gen Prawit he did not have to be concerned about the coming parliamentary debate expected to target him and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha,  because the party had MPs prepared to speak in their defence.

Gen Prawit said afterwards he had showed up as a supporter of the PPRP. He would say whether he would apply for membership after the government's policy statement to the assembled parliament.
