Alleged links to the Illuminati secret society are being used as a reason to push for the dissolution of the Future Forward Party (FFP) in a petition submitted to the Constitutional Court.

Citing the FFP's policies and philosophies of party members, Natthaporn Toprayoon, a lawyer and former adviser to chief Ombudsman, accused the FFP of being a threat to the constitutional monarchy, which plays a fundamental part in Thailand's political system.

Meanwhile, the FFP released a video clip on Thursday on its Facebook page countering allegations contained in the petition.

In the petition, Mr Natthaporn accused the party, its leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, and party executives of trying to bring an end to the constitutional monarchy.

Among the accusations listed in the petition by Mr Natthaporn was that if the FFP's logo -- an upside-down triangle -- is reversed, it bears a close resemblance to the Illuminati's triangle sign.

He also claimed that the Illuminati was behind efforts to overthrow monarchies in Europe and that it also played a role in the US Declaration of Independence in 1776.

He added that remarks made by several key FFP members discouraging the act of prostrating oneself to pay respects, pouring scorn on "Thai smiles", and trying to end the patronage of all religions in the country were in line with Illuminati thinking as well as those of the Nitirat group of progressive-minded law scholars.

Mr Natthaporn also pointed to the party's regulations, which he claimed were written to support the "constitutional democracy", which he said can be interpreted as a support for systems other than a constitutional monarchy.
