LAMPANG: A candidate of the Seri Ruam Thai Party led by Pol Gen Sereepisuth Temiyavet on Monday applied to contest the June 20 by-election in Constituency 4 of this northern province.
Pol Lt Somboon Kraphachon, 62, was allocated No. 2 in the race after his application was accepted by a local election committee. He was an unsuccessful Seri Ruam Thai candidate in the March 24, 2019 election.
Pithak Santivechakul, a former Phitsanulok MP and chairman of the Seri Ruam Thai Party's northern branch, and Thamonwan Jinakul, the party's coordinator in Lampang, accompanied Pol Lt Somboon as he filed his application on Monday morning at the meeting hall in Sop Prap district.
Another candidate, Wattana Sithiwang, 63, of the Palang Pracharath Party, registered his candidacy on March 22 and was given the No. 1 tag.
The June 20 by-election was necessitated by the death of MP Itthirat Chantarasurin of the Pheu Thai Party on May 7.
