Protest leader Panupong Jadnok has tested positive for Covid-19 while in prison, according to his lawyer.
Noraset Nanongtoom, the lawyer, said on Facebook that Mr Panupong, aka Mike, contracted the virus while behind bars.
Mr Noraset plans to ask the Criminal Court to consider granting Mr Panupong's bail request so he can be admitted to a hospital. The lawyer expressed concern about Mr Panupong's condition, noting his client had suffered from asthma for 6-7 years.
Mr Panupong, 24, has been imprisoned since March 8, pending a trial on charges related to an anti-government rally in Bangkok on Sept 19-20.
