As protesters converged at Asoke intersection in Bangkok on Sunday, red-shirt leader Nattawut Saikuar told the crowd he would lead a larger "car mob" rally that would run from Ratchaprasong intersection to Asoke on Monday.
The veteran protester urged motorists to join the convoy and honk when they drive past Asoke around 4pm.
Earlier, Mr Nattawut floated the idea of a larger rally to ramp up pressure on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to leave office. He said after arriving at Asoke that demonstrations would continue there for a few more days.
Mr Nattawut and red-shirt activist Sombat Boonngam-anong have called daily rallies at the intersection from 4pm-8pm, running in parallel with protests by student and activist groups.
Mr Sombat posted a Facebook message on Sunday saying protesters would not be deterred in the wake of the vote by MPs in Parliament on Saturday to keep Gen Prayut and his five cabinet ministers in power.
The same stance was echoed by his partner. "We do not accept (the vote) and we will not give up," Mr Nattawut posted.
Pol Maj Gen Piya Tawichai, the Metropolitan Police Bureau spokesman, said police were still waiting for an autopsy report on a man who died on Saturday night after his motorcycle hit a shipping container near Parliament.
He said the case was not related to anti-goverment demonstrations. The containers were used to block protesters planning a rally outside Parliament.
Meanwhile, the Thalugaz group has called another rally at Din Daeng intersection.
