Five slain in Saraburi karaoke bar

SARABURI - Five people were killed at a karaoke bar in Kaeng Khoi district early on Tuesday morning when one group of customers opened fire at another group following a quarrel, police said.

Pol Col Jakkrit Veeradej, Kaeng Khoi police chief, said the incident took place about 2am at a karaoke bar located between kilometre markers 4-5 on Kaeng Khoi - Ban Na road.

Preliminary inquiries determined that a quarrel developed between two groups of customers drinking at separate tables.

Two men in one group left on a motorcycle before returning to the bar with another man.  One of them opened fire at the people sitting at the other table with a military-type weapon, killing five of them.

The three then fled on the motorcycle in the direction of Ban Na district.

Police at various checkpoints along the road had been instructed to intercept the three men, but they were still at large.

Pol Col Jakkrit would not say if the victims were all men, or reveal any of their identities.

Pol Maj-Gen Chalit Preechahan, the Saraburi police chief, said the three attackers were believed to be from elsewhere as witnesses said they had never seen them before.
