The princess is currently a provincial prosecutor attached to the Office of the Attorney General.

Her transfer, proposed by the Foreign Ministry, was approved by the cabinet on Tuesday.

She will continue to serve as chairwoman of the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice until the end of her term in December this year, the spokeswoman said.

The princess will replace Somsak Suriyawong as ambassador to Austria.

At today's meeting, the cabinet also approved the appointment of Mr Somsak as ambassador to Paris, France, replacing Veerapan Vacharathip, who retires on Sept 30.
