Junta using Govt House for briefings

Press conferences to be held in Santi Maitree Building

The coup-makers' National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) began holding its daily press conference at Government House in Bangkok on Tuesday.

 The NCPO moved its venue for general press conferences from the army auditorium in Thewes area of Bangkok to the Santi Maitree Building in the compound of Government House.

The first press conference at Government House was scheduled for 1.30pm on Tuesday.

The army auditorium will be reserved for reporters on the military beat, it was reported.

NCPO deputy chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew, who was recently removed as national police chief, is now working from Government House. He was assigned to oversee special affairs of the NCPO.

Col Wirachon Sukhonthapatiphak, deputy army spokesman, said that NCPO and army chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha would continue to work from the army headquarters on Ratchadamnoen Nok Avenue.
