Two New Ventures for Bangkok Air Catering (BAC)

Two New Ventures for Bangkok Air Catering (BAC)

BAC announces its two new ventures, including the first-ever professional airline catering unit at Chiang Mai International Airport, and the in-flight service provider at Don Mueang Airport.

Marking the opening ceremony on 8th July, the company’s Swiss-born Managing Director, Linus A.E. Knobel, promised “a significant upgrade to the in-flight catering services currently on offer to international and regional carriers at Chiang Mai.”

On 1st July, BAC, in alliance with its innovative sister company, Gourmet Primo, started a major catering services contract at Don Mueang.  Formerly Bangkok’s international airport, Don Mueang has reinvented itself in recent years as a thriving hub for budget airlines and short-haul routes, as well as VIP and charter flights.

Gourmet Primo is already recognized as a supplier of customized meal solutions and a plant that manufactures top-quality foods. While BAC provides in-flight services, Gourmet Primo delivers a complete range of culinary solutions to low-cost airlines, as well as VIP and charter flights at Don Mueang.

Heralding the five-year deal, Knobel said: “I’m naturally very proud of this vote of confidence in Bangkok Air Catering from Airports of Thailand.”

He has been at the wheel of Bangkok Air Catering since it started operations in 2006, providing in-flight catering for just two client airlines at Suvarnabhumi.  BAC went on to hit a peak production level of 38,000 meals a day, and now boasts a portfolio of over twenty global carriers at the Kingdom’s principal airport.

Knobel with his excellent team also manages another two units on Samui (BAC-USM) and Phuket (BAC-HKT). BAC-USM mainly supplies Bangkok Airways and a busy assortment of charter flights, while BAC-HKT caters to international and regional carriers (successfully in operation for over two years).

“We have brought the most advanced equipment to all of our units, and systems that are fully compliant with GMP and HACCP, as well as Halal and Kosher.  That’s helped us establish a reputation for food services that are always safe and always high-quality.”

Knobel adds that, instead of going helter-skelter for expansion, he and his team have aimed to grow steadily but smartly, and work with the strong Marketing Tools of high quality of food and excellent service.
