#GoodForHeart to fundraise for surgery for children with heart diseases

TMB partners with ING Bank to announce “TMB | ING PARKRUN 2019”, a walk-run mini marathon charity event that is #GoodForHeart and everyone is waiting for, to continue the idea of You can… Make THE Difference. This year, runners can choose to join the Park Run event, or the Virtual Park Run. All proceeds will go towards the cost of surgery for young patients with heart diseases for the Cardiac Children Foundation of Thailand under the royal patronage of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana. Mr. Piti Tantakasem, Chief Executive Officer of TMB said, “For the past decade, TMB has partnered with ING to host the TMB | ING PARKRUN, the walk-run mini marathon charity event every year.  For the last 5 years, the objective of this event is focused on encouraging runners and donors to support surgery costs through ticket purchase of the run, and donating money to help cardiac children. Each year, over 7,500 children are born with heart conditions and are waiting for surgery. There are many patients waiting for help under the care of the Cardiac Children Foundation of Thailand under the royal patronage of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana.”

Under the concept of ‘You can… Make THE Difference’ TMB believes in the power of change.  This event is held for runners to create positive and meaningful change with every step they take both in their lives and community. This charity event has raised the fund to save over 1,200 cardiac children so far. TMB | ING PARKRUN 2019 is considered an event of the year that is #GoodForHeart for both patients and runners and donors who help.

The public can join the event in different ways, from buying a ticket to join the Park Run to run at the event, or try the Virtual Park Run. Mrs. Kanchana Rojvatunyu, Head of Corporate Branding and Communications of TMB said, “For TMB | ING PARKRUN 2019, there are two types of runs. The first is Park Run which will be held on December 15th, where the runners will run through three beautiful parks, Chatuchak Park, Queen Sirikit Park, and Vachirabenjatas Park (Suan Rot Fai), in the heart of Bangkok. There are three distances available: 2.6 km, 5.2 km and 10.3 km.”

Second, a Virtual Park Run for runners to run at any park and any time from November 15th to December 15th - a duration of one month. TMB will also donate an additional 1 million baht if the accumulated running distance of the participating Virtual Park Runners exceeds 100,000 km. Participating runners will receive a medal posted to them after the event.

Tickets for both running categories are available today until tickets last at for 600 Baht. All ticket holders will receive the light-weight, comfortable, and ecofriendly zeroH2O running shirt.  The zeroH2O is a high-quality running shirt that utilises the same material found in world-class running events. The shirt will be sent via post. Those who wish to donate money can also do so on the website.

Runners and donors will receive a receipt via email which is applicable for yearly tax reduction. All proceeds made from the tickets and donation will go to support the surgery cost for young patients of the Cardiac Children Foundation of Thailand under the royal patronage of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana.
