Celebrating France’s unique wine heritage at Sofitel Wine Days 2019

Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit is hosting six events as part of Sofitel Wine Days

the hotel group’s annual global celebration of France’s unique winemaking heritage and culture which this year takes place from 21st September until 31st October 2019.

The Sofitel Wine Days programme at the Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit begins on Saturday 5th October with The Wine Fair and continues on that same day with Saturday Aperitivo. 

The Wine Fair, which takes place in the hotel’s ground lobby lounge and Wine Boutique, showcases the arrival of new labels to Thailand as presented by a number of Bangkok’s leading wine suppliers (see below).  

* Wine suppliers taking part in the Wine Fair on 5th October include Vanichwathana, Italasia, Wine Dee Dee, Valentine Wine, Texica, Cornerstone, Global Food Supplier, Ambrose Wine, Inalca Food and Beverage, Jagota, KCG, The California Wine, and KadKokoa.

The Fair from 14:00 to 18:00 hrs. features complimentary wine tastings and a wide selection of red, white and sparkling wines for sale at exclusive wholesale prices. There is no entry fee. 

Saturday Aperitivo commences at 18:00 to 20:00 hrs. on 5th October in Wine Boutique with two hours of free-flow wines selected by the hotel’s Sommelier in combination with tasty tapas dishes, a selection of artisan cheeses, cold cuts, truffle risotto from the live cooking station, and braised carbonnade Wagyu beef. Priced at THB 945++ per person.

On Tuesday 8th October from 19:00 to 22:00 hrs. the hotel’s Belga Rooftop Bar & Brasserie is hosting an exclusive Châteauneuf-du-Pape Wine Dinner in partnership with Monsieur Thibault Brotte, a member of the famous Brotte family whose wine estate in the Rhone Valley dates back nearly 100 years.

Diners will be treated to a five course menu created by Belga’s Executive Chef Nicolas Basset, with each course paired with a wine presented by Thibault Brotte. 

Price per person, including all paired wines, is THB 2,500++ per person with an ‘early bird’ discount of 15 percent applicable to all bookings received before 30th September. 

Cheese is another famous French export and is always enjoyed with a glass of fine wine. Diners enjoying the Mediterranean Buffet Dinner at Voila! on Monday 14th October 2019 (THB 1,190++ per person) will have an opportunity to meet the hotel’s Master of Cheese Patrice Marchand. Patrice will be conducting a ‘Cheese Master Class’ in the restaurant’s Fromagerie.  

The concluding Sofitel Wine Days event - a Mystery Wine Tasting - is being held in the Private Room at Belga Rooftop Bar & Brasserie on Tuesday 22nd October. Guests will be invited to identify the striking characteristics, tasting notes, grapes and country of origin of each wine presented by the Sommelier. Authentic Belgian ‘bites’ prepared by Chef Nicolas will accompany each tasting. The Mystery Wine Tasting, priced at THB 990++ per person, begins at 19:00 hrs.
