“Beautiful Bangkok 2020: A Blossom of Happiness” honoured the finest photos of the stunning year-end light display at Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard at a presentation ceremony at Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, the iconic hotel based in the landmark building that also hosted the high-rise light show.

Beautiful Bangkok, an annual celebration initiated by developer MQDC, brought in 2020 with a spectacular performance inspired by the vibrant colours and delicate forms of flowers.

Now in its 3rd year, the light show has introduced breath-taking ‘3D building mapping’ technology to Thailand, using the striking 60-floor tower of Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard as a canvas.

MQDC honoured the 10 winners of a photo contest to capture the show’s magic with representatives of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association (RSTA), its partners in the event and contest.

“‘Beautiful Bangkok 2020: A Blossom of Happiness’ is a tribute to the joy and color of the city and its people that MQDC is honoured to support under its watchword ‘For All Well-Being’ to enhance the lives of all living beings,” said Mr. Keerin Chutumstid, President of the Property & Service business unit of MQDC.

“We are delighted to have spread happiness and goodwill and to have strengthened the tourism industry with this year’s expanded event. ‘The Wonder Flower Land’ installation added an extra thrill this year by letting visitors personalise the 60-story display to their heartbeat. This contest’s winning images will now carry forward this wonderful event’s contribution on TAT postcards.”

“Beautiful Bangkok 2020: A Blossom of Happiness” photo contest was won by Mr. Dymtro Nidzii, who was presented with a Leica Q camera. Mr. Jeryl Teo took 2nd prize, winning a Leica CL camera. Mr. Phongyos Jirasuntisuk came 3rd and received an iPhone 11 Pro Max. The other 7 prize winners received dining vouchers at Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, each worth 20,000 baht, for prizes totalling over 500,000 baht.

The prizes were presented at Waldorf Astoria Bangkok. The luxury hotel is based at Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard, a striking Ratchaprasong landmark with a distinctive design inspired by magnolia petals that also hosts super-luxury residences.

Mr. Vinid Rangpueng, Executive Director of TAT’s Marketing Services Department, said: “Beautiful Bangkok 2020 added colour and beauty to the tourism sites of Ratchaprasong, bringing many tourists to visit. When the new generation come to this colourful event they tend to take photos and forward and share them, which helping promote tourism. We thank MQDC and RSTA for organising such a great year-end event, which can spur tourism to reach new levels. We hope to have events like this each year forever.”

Ms. Nattaporn Chevamongkol, a representative of the Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association (RSTA), said: “RSTA is a collaboration hub for the area’s entrepreneurs, working with public and private organisations to promote Ratchaprasong as a business district and the country’s lifestyle neighbourhood. Ratchaprasong is an important landmark in Thailand for New Year countdown celebrations. Last year it organised the ‘Ratchaprasong Kingdom of Light’ event, thrilling people in the area. MQDC has held ‘Beautiful Bangkok’ for the third year in a row, bringing happiness, smiles, and great memories to visitors and filling Ratchaprasong with beauty. RSTA hopes that MQDC will continue to organise such a great event this year and in following years.”

Mr. Dymtro Nidzii, whose photo won 1st prize, said: “Bangkok is a big inspiration and I’m really glad that in Bangkok we have buildings like Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard. It looked very beautiful with the light show. It was a very amazing event, especially if you’re professional about photography.”
