Two Yamahas, one passion acoustic guitar competition 2020

The next professional step for talented guitarists with a chance to win widespread recognition plus a motorcycle and other prizes worth 500,000 baht

Siam Music Yamaha Co., Ltd. is on a mission to find the next generation of inspired musicians with a call to Thai acoustic guitarists to enter its “TWO YAMAHAS, ONE PASSION ACOUSTIC GUITAR COMPETITION 2020” for a chance to win a share of 500,000 baht in prizes and find a wider audience for their talent.

As Pornthep Pumipruek, General Manager, Music Instrument and Marketing Communication Department, Siam Music Yamaha Co., Ltd., says, “As someone involved in the music industry, I see so many changes constantly emerging. Musicians these days are more capable than ever, and you see that all over social media, with new faces appearing all the time. However, these days these talented artists only have opportunities to perform on digital platforms, especially during lockdown. So Yamaha sees artists’ needs for new performance spaces so they can fulfil their potential and reach a wider audience.”

“Yamaha is set on helping to provide such opportunities by hosting this competition which opens the door for music lovers to pursue their dream. Just a few notes and tunes have tremendous power to inspire mutual feelings between performers and listeners. Music changes people and the world around us. So our ‘Make Waves’ competition concept sets out to harmonise musicians’ skill and emotion with audience appreciation, so all parties can grow together on the same wave length.”

As such, Yamaha aims to support musicians to Make Waves with their tunes and achieve something special in TWO YAMAHAS, ONE PASSION ACOUSTIC GUITAR COMPETITION 2020. The competition is supported by Thai Yamaha Motors Co., Ltd. which will present awards and prizes to the winners. The prize list includes a Yamaha XSR155 motorcycle worth 91,500 baht and over 500,000 baht in cash. The TWO YAMAHAS, ONE PASSION ACOUSTIC GUITAR COMPETITION 2020 stage is open to talented Thai national musicians across the country, aged not over 25 years old, to perform on.

Warunee Techaboonpratan, a Division Head at Thai Yamaha Motor Company, adds, “Yamaha Music and Yamaha Motor have long histories of around 133 years and 65 years, respectively. For many years the two companies have worked hand-in-hand in the music business united by the same “Kando” (Can Do) philosophy. Our joint mission focuses on cultivating musical proficiency to develop the potential of musicians and bring pleasure to music lovers.”

“The two Yamaha brands have consistently collaborated in “Two Yamahas, One Passion” initiatives including the new TWO YAMAHAS, ONE PASSION ACOUSTIC GUITAR COMPETITION 2020 here in Thailand. We eagerly await all acoustic guitarists, from novices to more experienced, to make their marks and showcase their music to the world. As they let their inspiration flow, Thai Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. will award the outright winner a Yamaha XSR155, Sport Heritage motorcycle with a price tag of 91,500 baht. This particular prize has been chosen because its personality matches the mood and tone of the acoustic guitar. We look forward to the performances and to seeing Thai musicians enjoy the recognition they merit not only in Thailand but beyond our borders also.”
