UOB Thailand has won the Thailand’s Best International Bank 2020 award at the Asiamoney Best Bank Awards 2020.
UOB Thailand was recognised for its unwavering commitment to making banking simpler, smarter and safer for its customers. It was also noted for its comprehensive customer-focused banking services and strong capabilities in supporting retail customers, SMEs and cross-border businesses. Its innovative approach to banking, through the launch of TMRW, the ASEAN’s first mobile-only bank for the region’s digital generation, was also heralded.
Beyond its commitment to customers, UOB Thailand was also commended for its longstanding commitment to giving back to the community. For example, earlier this year, UOB Thailand and its employees raised funds to support medical personnel, in addition to volunteering their time to assemble and to deliver 10,000 face shields to 26 hospitals nationwide battling the COVID-19 pandemic.

In its citation, Asiamoney explained its choice of UOB Thailand as the country’s Best International Bank 2020. “Selecting the best international bank in Thailand is never easy given the competing claims of regional and global financial institutions. During the review period, competition for the top honours was particularly fierce. Looking at strengths and weaknesses across the breadth of the markets, it was clear that UOB Thailand should come out on top. Singapore-headquartered UOB entered Thailand in 1999 in the wake of the Asian financial crisis and has since never looked back. Under CEO Tan Choon Hin, the Bank has blazed a trail on the technology front.”
