The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), together with ICONSIAM and other agencies, associations and businesses along Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River, are turning the New Year countdown into a “new-normal celebration”. The ‘Amazing Thailand Countdown 2021 ’ – Celebrate the Shining Spirit of Thailand -- staged on New Year’s Eve at ICONSIAM’s River Park -- promises to be the most spectacular New Year celebration in all Thailand.

Set against the backdrop of the Chao Phraya River, the televised and live-streamed experience will also showcase the waterway as the country’s key tourist attraction and an iconic global countdown destination.

The new-normal celebration will feature a dramatic display of 25,000 eco-friendly fireworks, made in Japan from Thai sticky rice, which will light up the sky along 1,400-metre of the Chao Phraya River. As well as marking the occasion and ushering in the New Year, the fireworks are designed to be message of hope for Thailand and the whole world.

The celebrations will strictly comply with The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA)’s guidelines.

Mr. Supoj Chaiwatsirikul, Managing Director of ICONSIAM Company Limited, said, “ICONSIAM strictly follows CCAS’s guidelines by cancelling all concerts, but the New Year spirit remains with this stunning eco-friendly fireworks display. Expect to see the magnificent display of over 20,000 eco-friendly fireworks that will light up the most beautiful curve of the Chao Phraya River, spanning an area of over 1,400 metres. The fireworks display comprises seven acts under the concept “The Wonders of Happiness upon the River” to represent hope, faith, prosperity and happiness as well as to show support, from the people of Thailand, to people all over the world to overcome the crisis and start the new year with strength and courage.”

Each act has its own special meaning; Act 1: Big Hope: representing light at the end of the tunnel, Act 2: Believe: signifies belief, faith and determination; Act 3: Brilliant Life: represent mental and physical strength. Act 4: Beautiful World: symbolises optimism, Act 5: Blooming Wealth, presented by Kasikornbank, symbolises glory and prosperity. Act 6: Be Together presented by True Corporation: represents unity and Act 7: Best Beginnings: is an inspirational statement to kick off a great New Year.

ICONSIAM strictly implements maximum health and safety measures and works in accordance with the Ministry of Health and CCSA’s measures.
