CP Group – CP Foods donate 90,000 more of surgical masks for foreign workers

January 15, 2021-- Charoen Pokphand Group and Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CP Foods) donated 90,000 pieces of CP surgical masks to embassies of Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao PDR to distribute to migrant workers and expats amid the new wave of the COVID-19.

H.E. Mr. Ouk Sorphorn, Cambodian Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Mr. Phan Chi Thanh, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand, and H.E. Mr. Seng Soukhathivong, Laos Ambassador to Thailand, were separately received medical masks at their offices respectively from Mr.Prasit Boondoungprasert, Chief Executive Officer of CPF, together with Mr. Montri Suwanposri, president of the C.P. Vietnam Corporation and Dr. Sombat Thiratrakulchai, senior vice president of CP Foods, for 30,000 surgical masks each. 

The project, initiated by Mr. Soopakij Chearavanont, Chairman of CP Group and CP Foods, to assist migrant workers living in Thailand from the virus pandemic.

Mr. Prasit revealed that CP Foods believes that a safe workplace is a fundamental of safe and undisrupted food production. Therefore, the company has committed to keep all of its workers, including migrant workers, safe from COVID-19 by maintaining the highest safety measures and strict hygiene protocols. Also, the company extends COVID-19 relief efforts to other people who are not working with the company.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh, said that CP Foods’ businesses in Vietnam has create jobs and greatly contribute to the economic development of the country. CP Foods also takes a good care of Vietnamese people in Thailand, providing them surgical mask during the outbreak. 

H.E. Mr. Ouk Sorphorn, Cambodian Ambassador to Thailand, said thanked CP Foods for treating Cambodian workers fairly and equally as Thai workers. The company also shares its generosity with other Cambodians who live in Thailand.

Meanwhile, H.E. Mr. Seng Soukhathivong, Laos Ambassador to Thailand, said that the embassy recognized the goodwill and caring from the company to Laotian people in this time of crisis.

Previously, CP-CP Foods delivered foods and 30,000 pieces of mask to foreign workers and vulnerable groups in Samut Sakhon and Rayong provinces via the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), giving away 70,000 pieces of masks to people in need in Nong Khaem, Bang Bon, Bang Khun Thian, and Klong Toey Districts, as well as volunteer networks. 

The project also donated 30,000 pieces of face mask to the Myanmar Embassy to help alleviate the burden of Myanmar workers in Samut Sakhon and other vulnerable areas.
