BMA prepares to hire people with disabilities, increasing opportunities for everyone

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) gives importance on people with disabilities and will hire them to work in relevant agencies.

Mr. Khachit Chatchawanit, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), attended a meeting on employment of people with disabilities with relevant organizations and agencies. The discussion was mainly on the promotion and development of life quality of people with disabilities and the support on hiring people with disabilities in the BMA organizations and agencies. 

Currently, the BMA has employed 669 people with disabilities and still in need of 569 people with disabilities. At the meeting, there was the consideration of hiring more people with disabilities, at least two in each agency under the BMA departments and district offices. Social Development Department, Finance Department, and Office of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Civil Service Commission were assigned to jointly deliberate and prescribe guidelines, criteria, and methods to recruit people with disabilities efficiently. Also, they must be suitable for the job characteristics in each agency.    

Moreover, the BMA recognizes the importance of promoting and developing the life quality of people with disabilities in Bangkok in all aspects. For example, talent show platforms for people with disabilities are provided to show their talents and skills. 

The BMA vocational training schools have been working on career promotion and providing premises for selling goods or services. The BMA also promotes education by providing special education (mainstreaming) for students with Special Educational Needs who are at the stipulated age for compulsory education in the BMA affiliated schools. Also, physical improvement of public utilities system has been carried out so that the general public and persons with disabilities can live their lives conveniently and uplift quality of life according to the policy of Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok.
