The 90’s film Total Recall is not just a figment of a director’s vision. It’s coming home to us. VR displays are all the rage, and we must learn more about the technology to make the most of it. Marshall Mosher, the founder of Vestigo that offers virtual adventure experiences, is harnessing the power of VR to push people out of their comfort zones.
Mosher has always been an action sports enthusiast. He says, “After experiencing some of the most mind-bending adventures on earth, water, and the sky, I developed a deep sense of respect for the body and the power and grace of nature. It was a thrill to challenge myself, but I also had to acknowledge the feeling that adventure sports are more than one thrilling experience. They challenge your mind, body, and soul. It’s not easy and that’s what makes it incredibly powerful.”
With Vestigo, he hopes to make people reassess the fears that hold them back and defeat the obstacles that are standing in their way. He adds, “We hope Vestigo will take some of the barriers of entry out of adventure sports, making it easier to get people out of their comfort zones and into a place where they can encounter their fears and overcome them. While we work with teams, in truth, it is the individual we focus on. A team becomes complacent when people become complacent, and complacency can spread faster than wildfire. It needs to be offset with a promise to challenge the status quo. At Vestigo, we promise our clients a mind-set-shifting experience they never imagined and a result they’ve never had.”
As VR becomes commonplace, it'll be up to each individual to develop their own understanding of its potential. Marshall Mosher’s Vestigo is a step forward in that direction.
