Central Pattana reaffirms its ‘Hygiene & Safety’

Central Pattana reaffirms its ‘Hygiene & Safety’ masterplan throughout its 33 shopping centres nationwide to weather the crisis with the highest standard of proactive measures and encourage the public to have self-discipline

Central Pattana Plc., operator of centralwOrld, CentralPlaza, CentralFestival, Central Phuket and Central Village, is strengthening its leadership in the sector as the first to roll out a Covid-19 protection programme with ‘Central’s Hygiene & Safety’ proactive measures, which were later applied throughout the country.

The measures are rigorously carried out to the highest level at its 33 shopping centres nationwide. In addition, they are implemented under Central’s well-thought-out proactive masterplan which was created after careful consideration and risk assessment to cope with every contingency.

Central Pattana has teamed up with its employees nationwide to professionally tackle every situation in a timely and careful manner. Every employee is trained to strictly adhere to the five core criteria of the masterplan: 1) Extra Screening 2) Social Distancing 3) Safety Tracking 4) Deep Cleaning 5) Touchless Experience. These measures are in line with those of the Ministry of Public Health that encourage people to safeguard themselves to their highest ability with the D-M-H-T-T rules (Distancing, Mask wearing, Hand washing, Testing, and using the Thai Chana app).

Through these measures, Central Pattana ensures it can instil confidence in its business partners and reassure customers whenever they visit any of its 33 shopping centres.

“In the current situation, the most important thing is that we pull together and keep our guard up,” comments Dr. Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, Executive Vice President of Marketing of Central Pattana Plc. “As the first to roll out a hygiene and safety masterplan, Central Pattana will continue keeping up its highest standards.”

He explained that the masterplan covers five core criteria and comprises the most exhaustive, flexible and up-to-date plan, as was later to become the new social norm.

“Since we’ve dealt with many conditions and situations in our 33 branches nationwide, our masterplan has been updated regularly to ensure the most responsive measures. To set the highest bar and ensure that the shopping centres are safe places where people can shop with the utmost confidence, we‘ve introduced new technologies such as touchless elevators and sanitizing gel-providing robots. We also encourage 100% social distancing throughout the shopping centres. We conduct a daily evaluation and have a team that monitors movements and social voices on social media minute-by-minute, 24 hours a day.”

“In this digital era, everything happens quickly, so our response must be timely, concise and in line with the ‘Golden Time’ strategy. We tackle every situation quickly and efficiently. Every case we encounter is evaluated so that we can learn from it. Every scenario we have faced has led us to stronger measures.”

Dr. Nattakit added: “We have good measures, a good system, and a good team. Even though there is a new outbreak, with our hygiene and safety standards, we are able to handle the situation professionally. We are ensuring that our cleaning and disinfecting is more thorough, instilling the highest confidence in our customers.”

This is achieved using the following steps:

Being responsive – we have an ‘Extra Deep Cleaning’ operation throughout the shopping centre using a highly effective disinfectant to kill COVID-19 which was approved by CBC (Center for Biocide Chemistries) and US Environmental Protection Agency. Any staff who work closely with a confirmed case will be asked to conduct self-quarantine. In addition, all restaurants must clean and disinfect tables, chairs, eating surfaces immediately within five minutes after each customer use.

100% daily protection – we conduct a pre-emptive ‘Big Cleaning’ operation every day after closing time with special attention to any frequent touch points. We have increased the frequency to clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces every 30-minutes and every hour in the toilets. We also seek customers’ cooperation not to drink or eat while walking to avoid removing their masks.

Safety – we use air-conditioning systems equipped with UV-C to ensure that the air inside the shopping centre is clean and safe.

Being stringent – we ensure no alcoholic beverages are served in the restaurants to comply with the recent government mandate to reduce the risk of the spread. We also put up signs throughout the shopping centres to ensure 100% social distancing in the common areas, tenant stores, queuing and rest areas.

“We are fully confident that if Thais pull together to take care of themselves, keep their guard up and comply with the prescribed measures, we will be able to reduce the number of newly-infected case.”

“Let’s stay vigilant, wear a mask at all times when going out in public and avoid any crowded areas to reduce the risk of infection.”

“Central Pattana together with its partners and employees, will continue its proactive measures to ensure shopping centers’ hygiene and safety as well as encouraging online shopping via its Chat & Shop service”.
