DITP champions Thai export entrepreneur performance during Covid-19 crisis

The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) has included two new additional awards in the 30th Prime Minister’s Export Award 2021 (PM Export Award 2021) under “Aspiring Innovation” and “Emerging Brand” categories. As with the other awards, the aim is to encourage and reward entrepreneurs’ potential in terms of branding and international trade.

Mr. Somdet Susomboon, Director-General, DIIP, Ministry of Commerce, remarked, “The additional awards open the door to recognition for capable entrepreneurs who make their way into exporting and rapidly progress in the international trade arena.”

The Aspiring Innovation award includes entrepreneurs without exporting history but demonstrating offshore operation competence. The Emerging Brand under the Best Thai Brand category aims to encourage competent entrepreneurs to develop their branding to be competitive in international trade.

The Thai government’s PM Export Award 2021 encompasses outstanding exporters in seven categories, as follows: 

• Best Exporter

• Best Innovation

• Best Thai Brand

• Best Design

• Best Service Enterprise, comprising four sub-categories: Health & Wellness; Digital Content & Software; ELMA: Excellent Logistics Management, and; Printing

• Best OTOP

• Best Halal

“With the continuous support of DITP, the Ministry of Commerce, PM Export Award ceremonies have for many years brought Thai products and services global recognition in terms of standards and quality,” added Mr. Somdet.

The PM Export Awards 2021 once again aim to acknowledge the success and dedication of Thai entrepreneurs and their efforts in terms of product and service development. The awards also demonstrate the successful cooperation between the Thai government and private sectors to stimulate Thailand’s exports.

The new awards have been added to the 30th awards event in accordance with the policy of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanavisit.

“In many ways, this spotlight constitutes a stepping stone for entrepreneurs to refine their operations and exporting potential,” further commented Mr. Somdet.

Prospective entrepreneurs are invited to register for award consideration and capitalize on the opportunity for international commerce growth. Interested entrepreneurs can register to be considered for the awards from now until 15 May 2021.
