MEA launches MEA ENERGY AWARDS for energy efficiency improvement

The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), in collaboration with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), has launched “MEA ENERGY AWARDS” under the concept “Energy Deployment Efficiency for High Air Quality Standard” with the aim to promote and share knowledge among participating building projects.

As part of the programme, MEA and KMUTT will host a free seminar – “Building Renewal in the New Normal Era” – featuring keynote speaker, air ventilation expert Prof Gesha Thirakomen, on Friday 2 July 2021, from 09.30-12.00 hours, over Zoom Cloud Meeting Application. 

Forum participants will receive details of programme admission terms and conditions to gain MEA ENERGY AWARDS labels and receive sponsor funding to support energy efficiency improvement (second round) of their building as well as taking part in lucky draws.

The “MEA ENERGY AWARDS” label is awarded to buildings that meet the criteria set by the committee members. The objective is to encourage building owners to continue the mission to improve energy preservation while also enhancing the image of awarded buildings and their users. Contestants are required to meet evaluation criteria that include compliance with MEA Index and Indoor Air Quality Index (IAQ) energy quality standard. The standards are designed to benefit the users and differentiate the winning buildings as role models. 

The 8 award categories are:  

1) Hospital 

2) Hotel 

3) Office 

4) Department Store 

5) Hypermarket 

6) University 

7) School 

8) Small Shop/Convenient Store 

The winning buildings are also entitled to MEA privileges such as Energy Training, Energy Audit, Better Care Electrical Maintenance, and EV Charger (Normal Charger) installation. Moreover, MEA is funding 1,000,000 baht in grants for winners to spend on building improvement in accordance with programme terms & conditions.
