Henkel Thailand prepares for the future of work

Globally including in Thailand, Henkel has launched the Smart Work framework to actively shape the company’s working environment so as to nurture the growth, productivity, sustainability and well-being of all employees.

Andrianto Jayapurna, President of Henkel Thailand, said, “Globalization and the ongoing pandemic have accelerated the transition to a new work model that is more flexible, digital and collaborative. With Smart Work, we are starting a journey to provide not only a great workplace for employees, but also greater flexibility and empowerment for employees to reach their full potential.”

In essence, Smart Work provides a holistic approach to support greater work-life flexibility. This covers not only offices and mobile work, but also employee health, sustainability, travel and workforce digitalization.

At Henkel, the Smart Work concept is based on four pledges:

· Work ≠ Office: Thanks to the comprehensive digital workplace environment at Henkel, work does not necessarily mean presence in the office only, as employees can work offsite where feasible and to integrate work and life more seamlessly. This promotes a culture of trust and flexibility.

· Office ≠ Desk: This involves designing and upgrading office environments to support work efficiency as well as promote collaboration, creativity, and community. It also includes implementing initiatives that enhance the physical and mental well-being of employees. The company aims to make its workplace future-ready so as to inspire and strengthen its corporate culture.

· Presence ≠ Output: Managers are encouraged to explore flexible work arrangements and to drive team performance based on results and expectations, instead of office hours.

· Meeting ≠ Traveling: While travel will continue to be essential for building relationships, there are many positives to virtual meetings, such as reducing traveling time and emissions for the environment.

Even before the pandemic hits, Henkel has been fostering a cultural transformation to enable the growth of the company and the personal growth of employees, while building a strong corporate culture. The “Smart Work” framework is a very important pillar in this transformation that will shape the future of work for all employees.
