Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. was named the winner of ‘Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Thailand Corporate Excellence Awards 2022’ for the ‘Innovation Excellence’ category. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the award ceremony along with Mr. Chaiwut Thanakmanusorn, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, and Mr. Nithi Patarachoke, President of the Thailand Management Association (TMA).

The awards ceremony was held at The Athenee Hotel, A Luxury Collection Hotel Bangkok. This prestigious award reflects Huawei's commitment to drive Thailand to become the future digital hub of ASEAN, reinforcing Huawei’s mission to ‘Grow in Thailand, Contribute to Thailand’ through technological innovations and digital talent development while elevating and nurturing the ICT ecosystem in Thailand.

Prime Minister Prayut congratulated the winners on receiving the award: “Over the past years, the Government has focused on empowering the private sector and continues to support large and small businesses to compete on an international scale. We are now facing new challenges, including labour shortages and social inequality. On behalf of the Government, I would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations for the success of each organisation. This award is a symbol that reaffirms the commitment and determination of each organisation that strives towards excellence. We will move forward together to make a positive impact on people’s lives, which includes building the country's economic competitiveness, and we will leave no-one behind.”

“The Thailand Corporate Excellence Awards 2022 is the prestigious royal award granted to companies who have outperformed in technology and digital innovation. For the ‘Innovation Excellence’ category, there are several factors to consider when selecting the winning organisation. The organisation must contribute to outstanding digital developments in the country, such as providing public access to technology, driving rapid gain of internet penetration, supporting digital start-up development projects, and fostering digital and IT talents by fuelling education opportunities,” said Nithi Patarachoke, President of the Thailand Management Association (TMA).

Dr. Chawapol Jariyawiroj, President, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., added: “We are honoured to receive a royal award at the ‘Thailand Corporate Excellence Awards 2022’ in the ‘Excellence in Innovation’ category. This award reflects our commitment to support digital transformation and contribute to Thai society in line with our mission to ‘Grow in Thailand, Contribute to Thailand.’ Huawei is ready to support Thailand’s development and collaborate with the Government and partners from private companies to fuel Digital Talent Development by driving an increase in the number of IT talents and upskilling them through extensive digital trainings. We will provide them with education opportunities and technological access to help bridge digital divides. This in turn will create a perfect ecosystem to drive Thailand to become the ASEAN digital hub while also maintaining a strong economy and competitive advantages to sustainably compete in a global market.”

In 2022, Huawei Thailand implemented several Digital Talent Development programs, including the ‘Digital Bus’ project that helped upskill the Thai digital workforce as well as the ‘Seeds for the Future’ program and the ‘ICT Competition’ program, which provided scholarships for students in top universities and gave them access to innovative technologies. Huawei also launched ‘Huawei ASEAN Academy’, a dedicated digital training module set to empower digital talent, which also provides development guidelines for courses, hands-on training, and accreditation for universities, as well as apply Use-Cases from China as strategic training guidelines for public and private organisations.
