PWA pays out water meter deposits worth over 466 million baht

The Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) opened a registration for customers to obtain a refund of their water meter deposit on 15 April 2020. Currently, almost 1 million eligible customers have registered to obtain the refund and 466 million baht has been paid out.

The refund of the water meter deposit is one of the measures to alleviate the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Registration can be done on the PWA’s website (www.pwa.co.th) and there is no deadline.

PWA Governor Mr. Viboon Wongsakul said: “The PWA opened online registration for customers to obtain a refund of their water meter deposit on 15 April 2020, and we started paying out the refunds to registered and eligible customers on 5 May 2020. The refund is one of the measures to alleviate the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic for customers nationwide (Excluding those residing in Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakarn).”

“Currently, 936,145 customers have registered online to obtain the refund. Since 5 May 2022, over 466 million baht has been paid out to eligible customers who have the refund transferred to their bank account linked to their national ID number on the PromptPay platform or their Krungthai bank once their registration is fully submitted.”

The PWA governor added that, “Customers who want to obtain the refund, but have not yet registered, can send their request through PWA’s three online channels anytime as there is no registration deadline. The channels are: 1. www.pwa.co.th 2. PWA 1662 mobile application and 3. PWA Line Official: @pwathailand. Customers can choose only one channel.”

For further information, customers can call the PWA 1662 call centre for inquiries regarding the registration 24 hours.
