UBP Energy Development Co. Ltd., and the Digital Power Business of Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 21 March 2023 to jointly create fully digitalized systems utilising Huawei’s FusionSolar Smart PV technologies.

The collaboration aims to bring Thailand better access to clean power generation and supply, accelerating the nation towards the government’s Net Zero Emission goal.

The MOU, signed by Mr. Thanate Poompo, Chief Executives Officer, UBP Energy Development Co. Ltd., and Mr. Logan Yu, President of Huawei Thailand Digital Power Business, marks the start of a long-term partnership between the two parties.

This collaboration is well aligned with the growing energy revolution happening in Thailand. After the Thai government announced the country’s roadmap to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2050, driven by the COP27 commitment for low-carbon renewable energy, this move is a solid start for organisations and individuals in Thailand to beginning the shift toward a cleaner and more eco-friendly energy.

Under the strategic partnership, the two companies will share their expertise and solutions in the solar industry to support Thailand’s Carbon Neutrality roadmap, mainly focusing on the development of inverter and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The goal is to increase the performance of photovoltaic (PV) technologies while

significantly reducing operation costs. The collaboration is expected to drive forward Thailand’s energy industry to the next level through both companies’ innovative Solar PV solutions and end-to-end services, while supporting Thailand to become a net zero-carbon country in a sustainable way.

Mr. Thanate Poompo, Chief Executive Officer, UBP Energy Development Co. Ltd., said: “UBP has been looking for a partner that can deliver high quality inverter and BESS systems. Huawei is one of the world’s leading PV solution providers and has passed our high standard criteria. We are eager to work with Huawei to provide advanced PV solutions, which are integrated with IoT (Internet of Things), AI (Artificial Intelligent), Energy Efficiency Platform, and more. We expect that the collaboration between UBP and Huawei will bring a full-suite of advanced technologies for solar roof, solar farm and floating solar projects in the country which will, consequently, contribute to Thailand’s progress to become a net zero carbon country.”

Mr. Logan Yu, President of Huawei Thailand Digital Power Business added that: “Huawei Digital Power is committed to integrating digital technology with Smart String Inverter products to drive energy change and support the growth of an eco-friendly future. We have a variety of solar rooftop and floating solar solutions, which have contributed to more than one million tons of carbon-emission reduction in Thailand. With our long presence in Smart PV solutions, we are looking forward to bringing our expertise, technologies and experience to support UBP with the provisioning of the most advanced solar PV solutions and BESS.”

“As a trusted partner, Huawei is honoured to share our solutions with UBP which has more than 10 years of experience in PV technology. Through this partnership, we are looking forward to accelerating Thailand’s progress to becoming a carbon-neutral country.”

In the futuristic digital-energy era, digital technology and clean energy will be fully integrated, resulting in a new energy revolution. Consequently, the collaboration between UBP and Huawei to support PV technology development marks a milestone in Thailand’s progress towards a net-zero emission era.
