Taiwan Expo Returns to Thailand to Foster Bilateral Trade and Investment

Bangkok, June 8, 2023 - The Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan (BOFT) and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) are delighted to announce the return of the fifth Taiwan Expo in Thailand from July 20-22, 2023, at BITEC Hall 100. This marks the first in-person Taiwan Expo event after the pandemic, which aims to strengthen the bilateral trade and investment between Taiwan and Thailand.

With its theme, "Let's TIE Together," the event will showcase innovative products and solutions from Taiwan, including Smart City, Smart Medical, EV, Circular Economy and Intelligent Lifestyle. 170 Taiwanese exhibitors will participate in promoting international trade and showcasing their latest products and technologies.

The Taiwan Expo will organize One-on-One Business Match Meetings, Industry Forums, Seminars, and Product Launch Conferences to engage with Thai Industry leaders and players. The event will offer Thai businesses access to the latest technology, intelligence, and insights, accelerating their growth and business networks.

Ms. Tiffany Chen, Deputy Executive Director of Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) said, "The Taiwan Expo showcases the latest products and solutions curated based on the most recent Thailand government policies, local market demands, and consumption trends. It is an excellent opportunity to foster bilateral trade and investment between Taiwan and Thailand."

In 2022, Taiwan was Thailand's 11th-largest trading partner, accounting for 2.8% of Thailand’s total global trade amount. Taiwan invested a total of 44 approved projects, with a total investment amount of 1.3 billion US dollars, making it the fourth-largest overseas direct investment in Thailand. These figures reflect the expanding economic and trade exchanges between Taiwan and Thailand.

The return of the Taiwan Expo offers a great opportunity to foster business synergies, exchange ideas, and promote good relationships between Thailand and Taiwan, according to Mr. Duangdej Yuaikwamdee, Director of Exhibitions Department of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).

Mr. Nick Ni, Director of Economic Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand (TECO) said, "I believe that the Taiwan Expo to be held in Bangkok from July 20th to 22nd will further strengthen the bilateral economic and trade links and the bilateral relationship."

With major Taiwanese electronics companies such as New Kinpo Group, Foxconn Technology Group, Quanta Computer, Chicony Electronics, and Delta Electronics investing in Thailand, the potential for future collaborations between Taiwan and Thailand is significant. The Taiwan Expo is a vital platform for building good business cooperation between Thailand and Taiwan reflecting their long-standing relationship.
