SolarEdge made a significant impact at the ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week 2023 (ASEW 2023). This event marked SolarEdge's inaugural innovation and technology exhibition in Thailand, emphasising the growing importance of the Thai PV market to SolarEdge. Recognising Thailand's increasing demand for solar cell adoption, driven by consumer interest in reducing electricity bills and supported by government incentives.
SolarEdge showcased a wide range of innovations, including PV commercial solutions (SolarEdge Power Optimiser), PV residential solutions (SolarEdge Home), and EV charging solutions, reaffirming its commitment to the Thai PV market.
Mr. Daniel Huber, Chief Revenue Officer at SolarEdge, stated at the event, "Our primary goal here is to listen to the market, meet our customers, understand their needs, and grasp the dynamics of the market. We aim to comprehend the types of solutions they expect us to develop for them; that is our main objective."
One of the highlighted SolarEdge solutions demonstrated at ASEW 2023 is the SolarEdge Home solution. The Chief Revenue Officer mentioned, "We are introducing a new technology called the SolarEdge Home solution, which is a complete residential ecosystem solution. It includes PV, storage, backup capability in case of a power outage, and EV charging capability. Now customers here can benefit from a comprehensive ecosystem that optimises solar consumption and provides full resilience in case of a blackout."
The Chief Revenue Officer at SolarEdge also shared his vision for the SolarEdge roadmap in Thailand, saying, "In the commercial segment, our roadmap involves expanding the portfolio to include larger size inverters. We will introduce a 330 Kilowatts inverter next year and launch a larger capacity optimiser. In the residential segment, we plan to continue expanding our presence and increasing market share with the SolarEdge Home solution."
In addition to the positive market trends, Mr. Huber also highlighted Thailand's growing solar consumption. He pointed out that solar installations are on the rise due to economic reasons and government support for renewable energy. Therefore, the Thai market is becoming stronger and more relevant for our technology.
The increasing use of electricity, driven by new electric devices and cars, creates a need for greater power capacity. Mr. Huber emphasised that solar energy can meet this demand. As a result, SolarEdge is committed to offering a complete solution for residential use.
Weeruj Techasuwanna, Country Manager for SolarEdge Thailand, expressed great satisfaction with the reception of the product unveiling at ASEW 2023 and highlighted the company's latest innovation: a new Power optimiser featuring Sense Connect technology designed to measure irregular temperatures at the PV connector. This marked the first-ever demonstration of the product's capabilities, and it generated significant interest among the attendees.
In addition to showcasing the new optimiser, SolarEdge also presented its recently introduced Rapid Shutdown system, which became subject to regulations as of July 1 this year. While the concept of Rapid Shutdown is widely recognised, its operational intricacies remain less familiar to many. To bridge this knowledge gap, SolarEdge featured an interactive demonstration. Attendees were given the opportunity to engage by initiating the system and observing firsthand how it utilises predetermined voltage settings.
