NAOS Combines 'Product People Planet' for Holistic Skin Ecobiology

NAOS, a pioneer in holistic skincare, integrates 'Product People Planet' for balanced skin ecobiology, emphasising sustainability and compassion in its seventh-year NAOS CARE initiative.

NAOS - Human Care Enterprise, a leader in innovative holistic skincare products, is dedicated to creating skin ecobiology to promote sustainable beauty and environmental sustainability through its holistic approach to personal health care in the ongoing seventh-year NAOS CARE initiative, reaffirming the commitment to developing a balanced approach in ecobiology science, environmental care, and societal well-being for sustainable development on this planet.

With a strong determination to create global sustainability, NAOS has joined as one of the founding members of the Eco Beauty Score Consortium (https://www.ecobeautyscore.com/), aiming to establish a unified environmental impact scoring system. The company engages in activities to promote the protection of the environment and society as well as the practices of ethical work, which is part of NAOS CARE, the initiative that demonstrates the company’s commitment to conducting business with love, understanding, and compassion extending to employees, business partners, society, and the global environment. Not only does it focus on innovative product development, but also aims to promote and support the improvement of communities, society, and the environment together, following the principles of the 3Ps: Product, People, Planet.

Wallapa Rattanachaipipat, Managing Director, NAOS (Thailand) revealed that NAOS conducts business based on the principle of 3Ps comprising Product, People, and Planet. In the dimension of Product, NAOS has pioneered an innovation known as "ECOBIOLOGY – the approach to preserve the skin’s ecosystem and strengthen its natural mechanism" aiming at providing comprehensive care for the skin which includes enhancing skin health, promoting sustainable beauty, and improving overall well-being (Health, Beauty, Well-being). The approach formulated with biomimetic ingredients in order to protects the skin's functioning system, creating balance within the skin's ecosystem for various components such as skin cells, enzymes, hormones, blood vessels, and nerves to work together systematically. Currently, the skincare brands under this philosophy include BIODERMA, INSTITUT ESTHEDERM, and ETAT PUR. Moreover, recognising the global shift towards an aging society, NAOS has developed the NAOS AGING SCIENCE project which focuses on innovating anti-aging solutions by addressing specific skin concerns. NAOS collaborates with Miroslav Radman, a professor of biogenetics and founder of the MEDITERRANEA INSTITUTE FOR LIFE SCIENCES (MedILS) in Croatia. MedILS is a non-profit international research institute that focuses on studying the processes of DNA repair at the molecular level. Research of over 40 years has contributed to the latest knowledge on skin aging through the protection of the skin proteomes and introduce technology to delay aging signals in every skin process.

In the aspect of People, NAOS adheres to principles that promote ethical work practices. The company has also established a Shareholder foundation with two main objectives: driving sustainable business growth by promoting research and development and scientific advancements in line with the Human Care philosophy and supporting various humanity projects through the company's Endowment Fund such as the Bioderma Solidarity Mission project. This initiative aims to assist children and communities in Vietnam and Cambodia in accessing improved healthcare and education. Additionally, there is the Naos Village project, which aims to enhance access to food, education, and housing for the community in Dharni, India," added Wallapa Rattanachaipipat.

“The final dimension, Planet, involves the development of products and the selection of environmentally friendly packaging and includes partnerships with organisations promoting environmental conservation for various projects such as the Aquatic Ecosystem project which focuses on developing products that are environmentally friendly to marine environments. The products are capable of biodegradation in water, leaving no residue and containing no substances harmful to aquatic life. NAOS has earned the AQUATIC ECOSYSTEM TESTED label, signifying that our products have undergone testing, demonstrating their harmlessness to marine ecosystems. In addition, NAOS collaborates with Andromede Océanologie to protect Posidonia meadows, underwater plants in the Mediterranean region likened to the lungs of the sea. These meadows absorb carbon dioxide at a rate 4-5 times greater than other underwater plants and serve as oxygen generators in the sea. There is also an initiative to reduce plastic usage by adhering to the strategy of 4Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Replace. By 2025, all packaging under the NAOS brand will be 100% recyclable, reducing plastic usage by up to 20%. Since 2018

NAOS does not include plastic microbeads in its products range that require water rinsing. Currently, NAOS is one of 71 cosmetic companies which are a member of the Eco Beauty Score Consortium working together to establish a unified environmental impact scoring system whereby the participating members must provide consumers with information about the environmental impact of their products.”

In Thailand, NAOS has been continuously implementing the NAOS CARE project. In 2019, 150 tubes of Atoderm Intensive Baume 200 ml were donated to Ambulatory Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, Department of Paediatrics, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University; Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University; and Division of Dermatology, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University. In 2018, which marked the first year of implementing the NAOS CARE project in Thailand, NAOS initiated the "Saving Skin And More..." campaign which encouraged consumers to share their kindness with cancer

patients. For each purchase of Bioderma skincare in the Atoderm product line, one tube of Atoderm Intensive Baume was donated to cancer patients. This helped to care for the skin health of cancer patients who often experience dry and fragile skin. The campaign received a great response achieving the donation goal of 300 tubes of Atoderm Intensive Baume, with a total value of 285,000 baht. NAOS (Thailand) Co., Ltd.'s management team then presented the donated products to the Division of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University.

The NAOS CARE project in Thailand this year provides funding for research aimed at promoting innovation and knowledge for good and sustainable skin health. This funding can be used for various research purposes, such as testing substances in research tools or repairing research equipment, purchasing research-related equipment and more.

“In 2023, NAOS CARE in Thailand provides funding for research aimed at promoting innovation and knowledge related to skincare for good and sustainable skin health to three medical institutions, each focusing on research in dermatitis and dermatology, including Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital; Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital; and Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University. Furthermore, NAOS provided two fully-funded scholarships and a partially-funded scholarship for students at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, for their second term of the academic year 2024. This initiative is part of NAOS's commitment to developing medical professionals in Thailand which supported with a total funding of 173,000 Thai baht. Also, NAOS initiated the "Creating Skilled Children for a Strong Nation" campaign in collaboration with Boots Retail Thailand. The campaign donated 10 baht from the sales of each Atoderm product group sold at Boots stores during the fourth quarter of the year 2023 to provide funding for equipment and essentials to benefit the Nong Prayot Young Children Development Centre in Chachoengsao Province,” concluded Wallapa Rattanachaipipat.
