Award-winning Thai designs on show at Bangkok mall

The Ministry of Commerce is exhibiting the Thai designs that won its Design Excellence Award (DEmark Award) 2024 at a shopping centre in Bangkok.

Sixty-six entries from 54 companies that won the DEmark Award were put on display at Siam Paragon shopping centre from Aug 1 to 13 after the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) under the Ministry of Commerce concluded the design award contest.

DITP director-general Phusit Ratanakul Sereroengrit said the DEmark Award contest started in 2008 and has been successfully organised for 17 years to promote excellent Thai designs internationally.

The country’s soft power was among the criteria for judges’ scores this year, he said.

The Design Excellence Award 2024 goes to 66 entries in the following eight categories:

  1. Furniture: Industrial Process / Industrial Craft – 9 winners; Best Design: Puzzle by Corner 43 Decor Co Ltd
  2. Lifestyle Industrial Process / Hand Craft: Gift & Decorative Items / Household Items – 13 winners; Best Design: Zero Pollution Chicken by Thakun Chaopasi
  3. Accessories & Wearable: Apparel / Jewelry / Textile / Lifestyle Fashion, e.g. hats, bags and footwear - 8 winners; Best Design: The Flexile Elegant Series by Hatsaya Co Ltd
  4. Industrial & IoT: Home Appliances / Equipment and Facilities / Digital Appliances / Transportation / Smart Devices / IoT / etc. – 11 winners; Best Design: Quinta by Siam Sanitary Ware Co Ltd
  5. Packaging Design Product Base / Packaging Design Branding Base – 5 winners; Best Design: La Ed La Or by Yindee Design Co Ltd
  6. Graphic & Communication Design: Typography / Graphic on Surface / Digital Media / Identity Design / Illustration / Character Design / Digital Art / Exhibition Design – 13 winners: Best Design: Identity System for Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) by Farmgroup Co Ltd
  7. Interior Design: Hotels / Restaurants / Cafes / Retail Shops / Co-Working Space / Condominiums and Residential Projects – 4 winners; Best Design: Harudot Chonburi by NANA Coffee Roasters by IDIN Architects Co Ltd
  8. System Service & Digital Platform: Online Interface Design, Apps for Smartphones and Tablets, Websites – 3 winners; Best Design: MoneyThunder by Abacus digital Co Ltd

DEmark Award winners are also invited to compete for the Good Design Award (G Mark) contest in Tokyo.
