Sindhorn Offices Earns LEED and FITWEL Certifications for Sustainability

Sindhorn Offices strengthens its leadership in sustainable office development with LEED (O+M) GOLD and 2-Star FITWEL certifications, promoting ESG principles and well-being.

Siam Sindhorn has reinforced its commitment to sustainability by elevating Sindhorn Offices to a world-class standard, achieving both LEED (O+M) GOLD and 2-Star FITWEL certifications. This office complex distinguishes itself through its focus on health and well-being, energy efficiency, and green operations, adhering to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. Aligned with the Net Zero goal for sustainable business growth, Sindhorn Offices caters to the needs of modern workers who prioritise work-life balance, health, and environmental consciousness.

Mr Serbpong Kiattivisanchai, Deputy Managing Director at Siam Sindhorn Co., Ltd., stated that Sindhorn Offices, operated under Siam Sindhorn, prioritise the quality of life for building occupants in accordance with ESG principles. This approach has transformed the real estate business into a green and sustainable sector, earning the building two prestigious awards: LEED GOLD (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) and 2-Star FITWEL.

Sindhorn Offices has reached a prestigious milestone in sustainable building practices. The US Green Building Council awarded this exceptional property the coveted LEED GOLD certification in the Operations and Maintenance (O+M) category. This accolade, the highest honour for existing buildings with minimal construction, celebrates Sindhorn Offices' unwavering commitment to high-performance operations and sustainable maintenance practices.

The second accolade, the 2-Star FITWEL certification, is an international standard developed by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and administered by the Center for Active Design (CfAD). This certification assesses and ranks buildings based on their ability to promote occupant health and well-being, reduce risks of communicable and non-communicable diseases, and mitigate economic impacts related to poor work performance and healthcare costs.

“We actively support the Net Zero goal. Our commitment to this objective is reflected in our adherence to the ESG principles and our achievements in obtaining LEED (O+M) GOLD and FITWEL certifications. These accolades are a testament to our dedication to developing green buildings that promote sustainable health and well-being for all occupants, which is a source of great pride for us,” Mr Serbpong added.

Achieving World-Class Standards Through ESG

Mr Serbpong emphasised that Sindhorn Offices, guided by ESG principles, focuses on every detail to provide convenience, business efficiency, and maximum benefits to building occupants, while prioritising sustainability, addressing climate change, and supporting societal and environmental well-being.

In the Environmental (E) category, Sindhorn Offices has developed LEED standards across all dimensions to establish itself as a Sustainable Workplace for Life. Initiatives include enhancing air quality, controlling humidity, preventing mould, reducing disease transmission, alleviating work-related stress, and implementing a comprehensive waste management system based on the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle principles. These efforts include separating waste for recycling, minimising plastic usage, converting food waste into compost for garden fertilisation to reduce chemical fertiliser use, and organising regular “2nd HAND MARKET” events to encourage employee participation in sustainability efforts.

To further promote clean energy, Sindhorn Offices has installed solar panels to generate electricity and has established electric vehicle charging stations. Additionally, the complex encourages carbon-free commuting through EV ride-sharing services and offers free indoor bicycle parking for building users.

Under the Social (S) category, Sindhorn Offices regularly hosts health and recreational activities for tenants and employees, provides relaxation areas to improve the quality of life at work, offers a large 900-seat food court, supplies clean drinking water to reduce living costs for tenants, and sponsors community activities to enhance local health and well-being.

Furthermore, Sindhorn Offices has raised health standards for building occupants in line with FITWEL certification by enhancing the building structure and facilities to promote health and safety, such as improving pathways for access, ensuring adequate lighting, and providing emergency equipment with safety personnel stationed throughout the complex.

Additionally, healthy food choices are offered in the building's food court and restaurants. These options feature carefully selected quality ingredients, free from harmful additives, and provide complete nutritional value. This initiative promotes good health and offers healthier choices for building occupants.

These measures not only enhance safety but also create a work environment conducive to the health and well-being of everyone who spends time in Sindhorn Offices. They foster an environment that truly supports both physical and mental well-being.

Regarding Governance (G), Sindhorn Offices operates with responsibility, transparency, and accountability. The LEED (O+M) GOLD and 2-Star FITWEL certifications not only affirm the sustainable maintenance and operation of Sindhorn Offices but also position it as a model for the development of sustainable and efficient real estate projects.

“We remain committed to creating sustainable and user-friendly buildings in Thailand and the region by adhering to the principles of sustainability and ESG. Our goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance energy efficiency, and foster a sustainable and green future for all,” said Mr Serbpong.

The Rise of Green Office Buildings

The modern office market is increasingly shifting towards sustainability and ESG principles. Tenants, both local and international, are showing a growing interest in buildings that go beyond prime location and aesthetics to prioritise energy efficiency, water and waste management through the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), and green spaces for relaxation.

The trend towards green offices also emphasises innovations that enhance employee quality of life and performance while considering sustainability. Modern employees are more conscious of pollution and health issues, whether at home or during the 8-10 hours they spend at work each day. Upgraded office spaces that promote happiness, quality of life, and employee well-being are becoming the top choice for today’s tenants.

Sindhorn Offices, a premium office complex on Wireless Road, consists of three buildings: the 12-storey Sindhorn Tower 1, and Sindhorn Towers 2 and 3, with 15 and 29 floors respectively, along with the Glass House. The total area of the complex is 140,000 square metres. The highlight of the Sindhorn buildings, aside from their central location and convenient transportation, is their energy efficiency and well-being features, reflecting the Siam Sindhorn Group’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, taking climate action, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
