HaadThip Public Company Limited (HTC), the exclusive bottling partner of The Coca-Cola Company in Thailand's 14 southern provinces, has unveiled a state-of-the-art glass bottle production line at its Punpin plant in Surat Thani. Built to Coca-Cola's global standards, the facility integrates cutting-edge, sustainable innovations, reinforcing HaadThip’s 55-year commitment to sustainable business growth and social development in Southern Thailand.
Founded in 1969, HaadThip has expanded under a philosophy of achieving business success while fostering community development. The company now operates two bottling plants, Hat Yai and Punpin, employing over 2,000 staff across 19 branches.
Mr. John Benedetti, Senior Vice President – Supply Chain, highlighted HaadThip’s sustainability focus: “For 55 years, HaadThip has led the non-alcoholic beverage market in the south by prioritising sustainability. From optimising water use to adopting clean energy and launching a new glass bottle line, our commitment to an environmentally responsible supply chain ensures quality products while boosting the local economy and minimising environmental impact.”
Mr. Nuntivat Thamhatai, Vice President – Corporate Affairs and Communications, added, “Southern Thailand is our home. Beyond business, we’re dedicated to community development, believing true success integrates social and environmental responsibility. Every HaadThip employee takes pride in delivering refreshment and fostering sustainable growth in our communities.”
World-Class Facility with Cutting-Edge Glass Bottle Line
HaadThip's Punpin plant, spanning 315 rai (50.4 hectares), opened in 2013 to support business expansion. It now boasts six Coca-Cola-standard production lines, including a newly operational glass bottle line capable of producing 800 bottles per minute for returnable and non-returnable bottles. This milestone enhances packaging sustainability, particularly in the south's hotel, restaurant, and catering industries.
Sustainable Practices
The Punpin plant incorporates advanced water efficiency measures, achieving 100% recycling for non-beverage production, and targets reducing production water usage to 1.39 litres per unit by 2030. Renewable energy initiatives, including solar installations, generate 19% of the plant’s energy and aim to reach 28% by 2025. HaadThip has also transitioned to electric forklifts, NGV transport, and LPG boilers, reducing carbon emissions.
Sustainable Packaging Innovations
HaadThip focuses on reducing plastic usage and increasing recycled materials. PET resin usage has been reduced by 911 tons since 2019, and the company collaborates on circular packaging initiatives like the 'Coke Recycle Me' campaign. Recently, it introduced 100% rPET bottles for select products and biodegradable paper labels for glass bottles.
Recognised for its efforts, HaadThip has been listed in the SET ESG Ratings for six consecutive years and holds a 5-star corporate governance rating.
