BANGKOK, THAILAND, 11 DECEMBER, 2024: Pearson (LON: PSON), the world’s leading learning company, today launched BTEC in Thai language, increasing access to the Thai Ministry of Education endorsed qualification helping develop Thailand’s skilled workforce.
The Thai BTEC qualification builds on popular English language BTEC qualifications first recognised by the Thailand Ministry of Education in 2018. Since then, demand for BTEC in schools and post-secondary education has grown so significantly that BTEC is now recognised by the Thai University Central Admission System (TCAS) and is accepted for admission by numerous universities in Thailand.
“BTEC provides a fantastic route for students. It is also accredited by TCAS. BTEC is equivalent to Mattayom 6 and A-levels and these BTEC qualifications are recognised in around 80 universities in Thailand - that is a fantastic achievement!” said Ben Morley, UK's Commercial Counsellor and Department of Business and Trade Country Director at the launch of NewEd School, a BTEC dedicated new school.
“This significant development provides flexibility for students who wish to complete a globally recognized UK qualification while still studying in Matthayom 6, all while retaining the option to pursue their higher education in Thailand,” said Pearson Workforce Skills Head of International Stakeholder Relationships, Annabel Lawday, a guest of honour at the NewEd BTEC Opening Ceremony.
“Complementing existing curricula, BTEC equips students with a well-rounded education, preparing them with in-demand skills in the global market. The diverse range of subjects offered includes creative media, digital marketing, hospitality, business and e-sports.
“These qualifications are designed to equip students with the practical skills and knowledge valued by employers worldwide, opening doors to a wide range of career opportunities.”
The structure of BTEC is flexible - they can be taught in Thai or English. It can also be joined with existing curricula, catering to diverse learning preferences and institutional needs. With recognition from over 300 universities worldwide and 80 universities in Thailand, BTEC graduates gain a head start in the global job market.
By embracing BTEC qualifications, Thai institutions can elevate their educational offerings to suit the demand of Thai and International students, prepare them for future success, and contribute to the growth and development of Thailand's workforce. Pearson is committed to supporting institutions and teachers in delivering high-quality BTEC programmes. Through comprehensive training and resources, Pearson empowers educators to provide students with the best possible education.
