TAT highlights strategic yachting routes and regional collaborations at the Thailand Yacht Conference 2025.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is taking a significant step in reinforcing the nation's leadership in yacht tourism within the ASEAN region. At the Thailand Yacht Conference 2025, held on January 8 at the Splash Beach Resort in Phuket, TAT, in collaboration with key partners, outlined its vision to connect Thailand’s strategic yachting hubs with neighboring ASEAN destinations. The initiative aligns with the Thai government’s "Six Countries, One Destination" policy, which aims to foster greater tourism cooperation within the ASEAN region.

TAT’s proposal centers on linking Thailand’s yachting destinations, such as Phuket, Krabi, and Satun, with neighboring destinations in Malaysia and Indonesia. Planned connections will include routes between Thailand and Langkawi, Penang, and Malacca in Malaysia, as well as Sabang Island in Indonesia. These routes are designed to enhance the regional yachting experience, attract more yacht tourism, and promote cross-border tourism within ASEAN.

The conference also featured discussions on future marketing and public relations strategies, with TAT planning to represent Thailand at prestigious international yacht shows, including the Cannes Yachting Festival 2025, the Monaco Yacht Show 2025, and the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) 2025. Additionally, TAT will organize events like Sail IMT-GT to further promote the region’s yacht tourism offerings and elevate the international image of the ASEAN yachting market.

In an effort to promote yacht tourism in the region, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia have also collaborated on a joint initiative to showcase their collective efforts at the Thailand International Boat Festival 2025 (TIBS2025). The booth, set up by the three countries and supported by key IMT-GT agencies, will help boost regional visibility and attract international yacht industry professionals. This booth engaged over 6,000 attendees at the Yacht Heaven Marina in Phuket from January 9 to 12, 2025.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT, emphasized the growing significance of yacht tourism to Thailand’s premium market. She noted that 2025, designated as "Amazing Thailand Tourism and Sport Year," will feature tourism products under themes such as Grand Festivity, Grand Moment, Grand Privilege, Grand Invitation, and Grand Celebration. TAT has set ambitious targets for the yacht tourism sector, which currently generates an average annual revenue of 6.5 billion baht. With the goal of accommodating 1,800 yachts annually within three years, TAT aims to increase this revenue to 8.2 billion baht, making yacht tourism a key driver of Thailand’s tourism growth.

The Thailand International Boat Show, which ran from January 9 to 12 at Phuket Yacht Haven Marina, served as an important platform for showcasing luxury yachts, marine innovations, and high-end lifestyle brands. The venue, equipped with 332 berths, can accommodate superyachts exceeding 100 meters. Exhibitors like Simpson Marine and Sunseeker showcased the latest trends in yachting, with an emphasis on eco-friendly initiatives aimed at promoting sustainability within the IMT-GT yacht industry.

Through these initiatives, TAT continues to play a pivotal role in positioning Thailand as a leader in ASEAN yacht tourism, fostering regional cooperation and boosting the local economy through high-end tourism.
