Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya designed the royal fabric “Siriraj Phasthra Phorn” in celebration of receiving an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts in Textile Design from Thammasat University for the academic year 2023.
She conducted extensive research on patterns found in Thai art and ancient textiles, which serve as historical records reflecting Thailand’s lifestyle, culture, and natural environment. These designs have been creatively reinterpreted to possess a contemporary and universal structure while preserving the beautiful uniqueness of the nation.
The royal design “Siriraj Phasthra Phorn” has been graciously bestowed upon Thai weavers and artisans to create textiles incorporating ancient patterns from every region of the country. This initiative aims to revive traditional wisdom, elevate standards, and enhance the creative potential of fabrics and handicrafts across all dimensions, guided by the artistic vision of the creators.
