The THAI Academy programme, a joint initiative between the Royal Thai Government and Microsoft Thailand, is driving inclusive access to AI knowledge and skills across the country. With support from more than 35 public and private sector organisations—led by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society—the programme seeks to empower over one million Thais by the end of 2025.
The programme’s initiatives span government, education, industry, and underserved communities, promoting AI fluency nationwide.
Building AI fluency in the public sector:
- In partnership with the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission (OPDC) and the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA), AI training will be provided to over 100,000 civil servants. A special “Tech for Gov – Next Gen Gov AI Training Programme” also invites public personnel to explore AI’s potential for national benefit.
- The Department of Skill Development (DSD) is working with Microsoft to train 2,000 instructors and officials, who will then upskill over 100,000 workers and job seekers across the country.
- The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) is collaborating on AI and cybersecurity training for 368 personnel from critical information infrastructure organisations, along with 10,000 students.
Unlocking AI for education:
- The Ministry of Education is partnering to train 4,500 teachers, with outreach expected to impact over 400,000 students. Additional collaboration with IPST and NECTEC will integrate foundational AI content into the national curriculum for students in grades 4–12.
- The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation is supporting AI education for 50,000 university students in tech-related fields, building a future-ready workforce.
- Microsoft is also working with 20 universities to upskill faculty, integrate AI content into Learning Management Systems, and develop micro-credential systems to support flexible, self-directed learning paths.
Supporting businesses and industry transformation:
- Microsoft is joining forces with the Digital Council of Thailand, Federation of Thai Industries, LiVE Exchange, OSMEP, SME Development Bank, and the Thai Chamber of Commerce to help over 20,000 SMEs harness AI. Highlights include the SMEs AI Skills Summit.
