AIA Donates 10,000 Flu Vaccines to BMA Workers

Annual campaign promotes vaccination and healthier communities

AIA Thailand continues its annual AIA Sharing A Life initiative for the 12th consecutive year under the theme “Healthier You Begins with Vaccination”, aiming to bolster public health by providing influenza vaccines to vulnerable communities nationwide.

This year, in response to a sharp rise in influenza cases, AIA Thailand is donating 10,000 doses of flu vaccine to underserved staff of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) across all 50 districts. The recipients include frontline municipal workers such as street sweepers and waste collectors, who are considered high-risk due to their daily exposure to public environments.

The campaign was officially launched during a press conference at the Bangkok Room, Irawat Pattana Building, Bangkok City Hall (Din Daeng), presided over by Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok.

In addition to public vaccinations, AIA Thailand is extending special benefits to its customers. Health insurance policyholders aged 6 months to 15 years are eligible for free influenza vaccinations, while those aged 15 and older can access the service at special rates* at hospitals within the AIA Smart Network.

This initiative reinforces AIA Thailand’s long-standing commitment to health and well-being, aligned with ESG (environmental, social, and governance) principles and the AIA One Billion mission — to help one billion people in Asia-Pacific live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives by 2030.

Mr. Nikhil Advani, Chief Executive Officer of AIA Thailand, expressed gratitude to the BMA for its partnership, emphasising the importance of protecting those most exposed to infection. “AIA Sharing A Life is our largest social contribution initiative, uniting employees, agents, and partners to do good together. This year, we are proud to support the health of the essential workers who help keep Bangkok clean and safe,” he said.

Governor Chadchart highlighted the severity of the current influenza season, noting over 270,000 cases and more than 20 deaths reported nationwide as of January 2025. Bangkok alone has recorded over 14,000 cases** — the highest in the country. “We are grateful for AIA Thailand’s contribution of 10,000 flu vaccines, which will help us complete our citywide vaccination drive by May 2025, ahead of the rainy season,” he said.

He added that the BMA is working with the Medical Service Department, Health Department, and private sector partners to reduce influenza transmission and build a healthier, more resilient Bangkok.
