BDMS Wellness Clinic Launches AIRFLOW GBT for Oral Disease Prevention

BDMS Wellness Clinic unveils innovative dental technology linking oral health to long-term prevention of chronic diseases.

BDMS Wellness Clinic, part of Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS), has introduced “AIRFLOW GBT” — an advanced dental care technology designed to prevent chronic oral conditions while promoting overall health and well-being. The launch comes as the clinic highlights growing concerns about the systemic impact of poor oral health, including its links to non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

According to BDMS, over 53% of Thais suffer from tooth decay, which significantly contributes to wider health challenges. The new AIRFLOW GBT system offers a gentler, more effective alternative to traditional dental scaling, encouraging regular dental care through a pain-free experience.

Dr Valailuck Kiatthanakorn, Director of the Dental Wellness Clinic at BDMS Wellness Clinic, emphasised the connection between oral health and chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and Alzheimer’s. “Biofilm and gum inflammation are closely associated with systemic diseases. In diabetic patients, gum disease can worsen blood sugar control, while oral bacteria have also been linked to atherosclerosis and neurodegenerative conditions,” she said.

A New Era in Preventive Dental Care

AIRFLOW GBT (Guided Biofilm Therapy) is designed to remove plaque and biofilm with minimal discomfort, making it ideal for regular cleanings and early intervention. Unlike conventional methods, AIRFLOW GBT uses a fine erythritol powder spray that is gentle yet effective, even for those with implants, crowns, veneers, or orthodontic appliances.

The treatment comprises eight key steps, including:

  1. Comprehensive oral examination to assess gum and dental health
  2. Plaque-disclosing solution to identify and target problem areas
  3. Advice on brushing technique for better at-home care
  4. Airflow Plus technology using a 14-micron powder to gently clean all surfaces
  5. Subgingival treatment to address plaque below the gum line
  6. PS Piezon scaling with a hot water system for pain-free tartar removal
  7. Post-treatment check-up to assess hygiene outcomes
  8. Next visit scheduling to maintain optimal dental health

The service is priced between THB 4,000 and 4,500, depending on the individual dental plan.

BDMS Wellness Clinic encourages patients to have regular check-ups every six months, noting that early intervention and maintenance can prevent more serious conditions later in life. “Our goal is to integrate oral health into holistic preventive care,” said Dr Valailuck.
