The Selection Committee for Governor of the Bank of Thailand announces the recruitment of candidates to be nominated for the position of Governor of the Bank of Thailand to replace incumbent Sethaput Suthiwartnarueput, whose five-year term ends in September 2025. The following qualifications are required:
1. General qualifications
The candidates must have Thai nationality, aged not over 60 years old on the date the cabinet nominates to His Majesty the King for approval. Candidates must be capable and knowledgeable in economics, banking and finance, and have expertise and experience pertinent to the governorship of the Bank of Thailand. He or she must be able to work full-time and have at least a bachelor’s degree from an academic institution recognised by the Office of the Civil Service Commission. Candidates must not have any prohibited characteristic or disqualification as prescribed in the announcement of the Selection Committee for Governor of the Bank of Thailand, published on 7th May 2025.
2. Specific qualification
- 2.1 Candidates must have knowledge and understanding of Thailand’s macroeconomics and global financial system.
- 2.2 Candidates must have knowledge and understanding of monetary policy, financial institution policy, and payment system policy.
- 2.3 Candidates must have expertise and experience in management and at least one of the following:
- 2.3.1 Currently or previously holds a position equivalent to deputy director or higher in an organisation;
- 2.3.2 Currently or previously holds an executive position in a private sector entity with assets worth not less than 15,000 million baht. His or her position must be no lower than one rank lower than chief executive in the organisation;
- 2.3.3 Currently or previously holds executive position in a state-owned enterprise, a government agency or an international organisation. His or her position must be no lower than one rank lower than chief executive.
3. How to apply
Applicants are to submit their applications in person or appoint an authorised person to submit their applications together with required documents as specified by the Selection Committee. The documents must be sealed and addressed to the Chairman of the Selection Committee for Governor of the Bank of Thailand at the Financial System and Financial Institutions Policy Bureau, 2nd floor, Fiscal Policy Office, Ministry of Finance, Rama VI Road, Bangkok, 10400. Submission is available from 13th May - 4th June 2025 during office hours.
4. Documents required for submission of an application
- 4.1 A completed application form
- 4.2 A statement to demonstrate the applicant’s approach with regards to the management of the Bank of Thailand as well as the vision and insight about the country’s macro-economic conditions, global financial system, monetary policy, financial institutions policy, and financial payment policy.
