Celebrate Phi Ta Khon

The town of Dan Sai in Loei province invites all to its most famous cultural event, the Phi Ta Khon Festival where locals from several communities take part in fun-filled processions through the town while donning colourful ghost masks. This year, the festivity is scheduled for July 5-7. As usual, the venues are Wat Phon Chai and the nearby Dan Sai district office.

Apart from the parades, there will also be many other activities, from religious rites and an international mask exhibition to sales of local delicacies, handicrafts and other goods, and a variety of stage entertainment.

Phetchaburi festival

Phra Nakhon Khiri National Museum, housed in the former summer palace of King Mongkut (Rama IV), which was built on a hilltop in Phetchaburi city, is marking the palace's 160th anniversary with many activities on July 12-14.

Apart from an exhibition on the history of Phra Nakhon Khiri and academic discussions on related topics, there will also be a cultural fair as well as demonstrations and workshops on various crafts, plus performances of traditional music.

Visitors are encouraged to dress in Thai costumes, preferably in the styles relevant to the times of King Mongkut and his son King Chulalongkorn.
