Thinking about a holiday idea? How about one that is not just fun but also benefits others?

The Thai Red Cross Society invites interested members of the public to join in a charity car rally from Bangkok to Chachoengsao and Prachin Buri provinces on Sept 7-8.

Along the way, participants will pass beautiful farmland and drop by at designated stops for entertaining and educational activities.

Among the highlights will be a visit to the Khao Hin Sorn Royal Development Study Centre in Chachoengsao's Phanom Sarakham District. At the centre, one of the legacies of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, you can learn about many aspects of sufficiency economy and enjoy the refreshing greenery on the area which a few decades ago was a pitifully barren land.

The fees, inclusive of accommodation at Tawaravadee Resort in Prachin Buri and four meals, are 4,500 and 6,500 baht. The first is for a normal team and the latter a VIP team. Each team is made up of two persons.

Proceeds will go to the Neuroscience Centre for Research and Development of Chulalongkorn Hospital.

Each of the winning teams will receive a trophy from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, executive vice-president of the Thai Red Cross Society.
