Passengers on the MRT will no longer have to change trains when they ride the Blue Line extension to Bang Wa, starting on Saturday.

The Blue Line operator is offering free travel on the newly opened sector from Hua Lamphong to Bang Wa for two months until Sept 30. But commuters have had to cross the platform to switch trains at Hua Lamphong.

The service to Bang Wa runs from 7am to 9pm.

BEM, which runs the line under a concession from the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand, plans to open more stations along the extension to the final destination at Lak Song later this year.

Another route from Tao Poon to the Tha Phra station will open in the first quarter of next year.
