The annual temple fair at Wat Sa Ket where the famous Golden Mount is located is set to take place once again from Nov 4-13.

The grandest of its kind in Bangkok, the age-old fair features a 10-day extravaganza of food and fun. Expect tons of savoury dishes and desserts, old-school amusement rides, games, shows and much more. The event also provides the public with a chance to climb the Golden Mount, which is normally closed at 6pm, after nightfall.

The highlight for culture lovers will happen on Nov 9 when the sacred ceremony to wrap the pagoda on the top of the Golden Mount with a red robe takes place. The ritual will begin at 4pm and will continue into the night.

Mountain-bike meeting

If you have a plan to visit Suphan Buri province on Dec 21-22, maybe you should add to your itinerary Khao Phra in Doem Bang Nang Buat district. To happen there on those days is the Ride and Loud downhill mountain bike meeting. In case you're curious, the organiser uses the word "meeting" instead of "competition" because for the latter official permission is needed.

This is an event held by downhillers themselves, so it promises to be fun. The first day is set for practice and the second day for the actual races. Male and female riders will be categorised into elite groups and different age groups.

International and local mountain bikers wishing to participate, as well as would-be spectators, can contact Eak Buubike, a member of the organising team, via Facebook.
