The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has joined hands with airlines, hotels and car rental service providers to launch the "Hello Rainy" promotion.

It aims to encourage people to travel during the wet season. TAT has recommended 60 routes in 60 provinces including rice terraces in Nan, Khao Kho National Park in Phetchabun, and Khanom Beach in Nakhon Si Thammarat.

In addition to providing ideas for trips, the programme also has special offers from airlines, hotels, car rental companies and tour agencies.

Bus operator begins car rental service

Nakhonchai Air (NCA) interprovincial bus operator has launched the NCA car rental service in Bangkok.

Offering Toyota Prius cars for rent, each vehicle is equipped with GPS. The service is available from 5am to 10pm at the NCA's bus terminal on Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road.

Those who rent a car must be between 25 and 60 years old and can do so for up to five consecutive days. Moreover, they can use the car within 200km of Bangkok only. The fee per day is 1,500 baht. To celebrate the new service, the company is offering 50% off for Nakhonchai Air bus passengers and 30% off for the general public. The promotion will last until the end of September.

The company plans to expand its car rental service to other big cities in the future.

AIRLINES UPDATE

- Thai AirAsia X will launch three weekly flights between Bangkok and Seoul in South Korea, starting Sept 2.

The flights will depart from Don Mueang Airport on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 2.35am. The arrival time is 10am local time. The return flight from Seoul will depart at 11.15am and arrive in Bangkok at 3.05pm local time. The travel time is five hours and 30 minutes.

HOTEL DEALS & UPDATE

- Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park in Sukhumvit 22 has launched a "Summer Dreaming" promotion after resuming full service.

The offer is designed for guests who book a two-night stay. They will receive daily breakfast and 1,000 baht hotel credit per day to be redeemed for accommodation upgrades, spa and dining at hotel restaurants and lounges.

The promotion is valid until Dec 15.

- Novotel Phuket City Phokeethra in Muang Phuket has launched "Wow Reopening" offers.

The promotion price is 1,500 baht for a night stay in a superior room and includes breakfast for two.

- Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort has introduced a "Buy One Get Another One Free" promotion.

The offer includes a complimentary night for every booking night and daily breakfast for two and children up to three years old.

The booking and stay period is valid until Dec 25. The resort also offers a special bonus to guests who book a room by July 31. These guests will receive a buy one get another one free for all hotel services including F&B, spa and excursions.

The offer is limited to Thai residents and expatriates with a valid ID or work permit. The free night(s) must be used after the paid night(s) and cannot be accumulated for future stays.

- Santiburi Koh Samui resumed its service yesterday. To mark the reopening, it launched a "Buy One, Get One Free" promotion on accommodation, dining, spa and other activities.

Prices start from 6,507 baht net per night including daily breakfast for two, afternoon tea, use of non-motorised water sports equipment and a shuttle service to Santiburi Samui Country Club. The offer also includes a round-trip airport transfer for the price of a one-way service.

The promotion is available for Thais and expatriates. They can book and stay from now until Dec 25.

The hotel also offers a new chauffeur service to drive guests from their home in Bangkok to Koh Samui using their own car. The service is priced at 12,000++ baht. For guests who take public buses, the resort is also offering transportation service from Don Sak pier in Surat Thani to the property. The fee is 1,000++ baht and excludes boat tickets.
