Covid claims Calypso cabaret

TRAVEL

Calypso Bangkok has closed down curtains on its cabaret shows after 33 years of operation.

It cited lost business during the Covid-19 pandemic that led to international flight cancellations and border closures during the past few months. "We have put in the utmost effort to run the business but no one knows when the situation will get better," the company said in a statement.

As a result, it discontinued cabaret shows on Oct 14, turning the space into an event-hosting facility. Located at Asiatique The Riverfront on Charoen Krung Road, the facility houses a theatre (1,425m²) with 540 seats and a restaurant (1,096m²), which also has a stage and can accommodate 200 participants.
