KANCHANABURI: The provincial governor has allowed local hotels to reopen, six days after he ordered them closed to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Jirakiat Phumsawat issued the latest order on Wednesday.

It allows local hotels to reopen on the condition they comply with disease control measures including the screening of visitors, hand washing, social distancing and wearing of face masks.

The announcement followed heavy criticism of the governor's earlier order on Jan 14 closing all local hotels.

The governor said on Wednesday that their contnued closure could have a detrimental effect on hoteliers and the local economy.
