'Thai Niyom (or Thainess)" is the central theme for the "Thailand Songkran Festival 2021", which will run at all 32 Central shopping centres across the country from tomorrow until April 18.
A collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to encourage visitors to celebrate the Thai New Year without water splashing, the festival will present contemporary Thai cultural activities derived from unique local identities and charm of the respective provinces where the shopping malls are located in order to make them the best landmarks for Songkran celebrations.
The festival at each venue is comprised of four highlights -- the bathing of Buddha images; the Thai Niyom-themed markets offering outstanding dishes from each locality; a variety of cultural performances and folk plays; and a photo landmark with unique decorations.
A kite show will be presented at many Central shopping centres.
At CentralWorld in Bangkok, visitors are invited to pay respect to 11 replicas of sacred Buddha statues on loan from famous temples, indulge in different recipes of summer foods and rare desserts and take photos with seven stunning sand pagodas as tall as 4m designed by a national artist.
Also for the first time in Thailand, see 5m-tall sand sculptures featuring a herd of white elephants in royal Thai ceremonial uniforms, which will be exhibited at Central Rama II from Friday until April 21.
Set to serve a variety of northern delicacies, the "100 Years Lanna Market" will attract foodies to CentralFestival Chiang Mai just like how the "Thailand Street Food Festival" at Central Phuket will transform into a haven for food lovers as it promises to bring more than 80 five-star street food restaurants.

Also, the "Kite On The Beach 2021" celebration in front of Central Festival Pattaya Beach will feature the country's longest kite (over 300m), Asia's largest kite called "Bowl Kite", a 15m whale kite and three LED kites. Meanwhile, CentralPlaza Nakhon Si Thammarat will display the country's largest Chula kite from the Suratthani Kite Club.
For cat lovers, Central Nakhon Ratchasima will showcase Thailand's ancient auspicious breeds -- Suphalak, Wichianmat, Konja, Khao Manee and Si Sawat (Korat) -- from Saturday onwards.
