Surf skate heaven comes to Parc Paragon

Surf skate enthusiasts will love this. Siam Paragon has turned Parc Paragon into a surf skate beach for "Siam Paragon Summer Sensation Surf & Verve" until May 9.

Experienced skaters can develop their skills with the country's longest surf skate wave ramp designed by Jakkarin Petchworapol, aka Geng Jakkarin, a professional skateboarder who was previously on the Thai national team.

Mimicking actual waves with S shapes, the ramp here is the only one in Thailand to be certified by the Thailand Surfing Federation, which follows the same rules as those set by the International Surfing Association (ISA). The ramp is open daily with four rounds from 11am to 3pm, 4pm to 6pm, 6pm to 8pm and 8pm to 10pm. Entry fee is 100 baht per person.

For newbies wishing to learn skating with the right techniques, there is one-on-one training by professional surf skaters from the Phuket Water Sports Club every Friday to Sunday at 4pm, 5.30pm and 7pm. Each round lasts for one hour and is limited to 10 skaters. The fee is 300 baht and online bookings are open a week in advance via liff.line.me/1653388644-r2bL2aRn.

There are also performances and activities every weekend throughout April, including talks with well-known skaters led by Geng Jakkarin; a Demo Day by skaters and surf skaters who will showcase techniques and provide opportunities to test skating gear; and surf skateboards for children.

The Boards Clinic is also on hand to modify, customise and repair skateboards. The clinic is open daily during the campaign.

Another highlight is the "Thailand Surfskate Championships 2021", which will take place on May 1-2. All competitors will have to brave the curves and steepness of actual waves on surf skates that act like surfboards on land. They will receive scores based on their moves.
