The Thai Cycling Association (TCA) is hosting the Thailand Championship Tournament from July 2-4 in the northern province of Mukdahan located on the banks of the Mekong River across from Laos.

The event features two major categories -- road and mountain bike (MTB) races. Each competition will be grouped by gender and age. Following Covid-19 measures, the TCA requires all athletes, race staff and referees to pass a Covid-19 PCR test within 72 hours of the event.

The tournament is limited to 700 cyclists.

Winners will have the chance to represent Thailand in the Asian Road Bicycle Championship 2021, which will be held in Rayong between Aug 18-23.

Winning prizes include cash and trophies. Top finishers in the road race will receive trophies of King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, while winners of the MTB will be awarded trophies of HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua.

In addition to the tournament, the TCA and Thai Health Promotion Foundation will host the 13km "Bike For Life" on July 2, which is open to all participants.

During the three-day tournament, Mukdahan will host contests for the most creatively decorated bicycle and most beautiful vintage two-wheeler. A bicycle repair clinic also will be available.

The TCA will broadcast the tournament via its Facebook page while Thai PBS will broadcast the race on July 4. The last day for online registration is June 30.

Mukdahan is 658km northeast of Bangkok, about a nine-hour drive. The closest airport is in Nakhon Phanom, with some airlines offering a "fly and ride" service that provides a van ride to Mukdahan. However, the van service is temporarily halted.
