Official description

Wihan Phramongkhon Bophit is a temple that contains one of the largest bronze Buddha images in Thailand. There is a collection of numerous smaller images. It was destroyed by the Burmese in 1767 and renovated in 1956. The temple was the original site for royal cremations, a practice that now takes place at Sanam Luang in Bangkok.
