Wat Prayurawongsawat Worawihan was built since 1828.
Uposatha or Ordination Hall is a beautiful building in Thai architectural style consisting of brick and stucco, measuring 18.24 by 25.20 metres. Its important architectural features are its pediments with intricate wood-carvings depicting phuttan flowers. There are an entrance and an exit at the front and back of the Uposatha. Its roof consists of glazed tiles, whilst within the Uposatha, there are mural paintings behind the principal Buddha-image portraying scenes from the life of the Buddha. On the surrounding walls, there were mural paintings depicting the various Jatakas or the Buddha’s birth stories. Unfortunately, these mural paintings of the Jataka stories were destroyed during World War II when the Memorial Bridge was air-raided and the roof of the Uposatha was partially damaged by a huge bomb, thereby causing rain-water to seep in and irreparably destroy them.
